Measuring large parts, molds, assemblies and machines used to be a challenging, time-consuming process and often had to be performed in a special inspection area.

Portable FARO Vantage Laser Trackers make on-site measurement easy and fast, reducing inspection cycle times by up to 75%. They measure 3D coordinates by tracking a target that the user moves from one point to another on the object being measured. In seconds, these measurements can be compared against nominal CAD data so teams can either make informed adjustments or move forward with confidence.

New to the Vantage Max and Vantage Max family of Laser Trackers is more accurate 6DoF probing, which helps speed up inspections and reduce the number of device moves. With the higher accuracy of the Vantage Max, users can probe more points beyond the line of sight and without tooling changes, resulting in a productivity improvement of 20% compared to lower accuracy probes.

What is Metrology

Metrology is the scientific study of measurement. It establishes a common understanding of units, crucial in linking human activities. Modern metrology has its roots in the French Revolution’s political motivation to standardize units in France when a length standard taken from a natural source was proposed.

Our 3D laser Metrology scanning accelerates design-through-manufacturing by providing full geometry feedback. We believe in precision and world-class quality measuring using the latest FARO Laser Trackers and software. Zero Tolerance Metrology laser trackers are extremely fast, portable and accurate. They can read small or large volume measuring. This allows our clients to build their products, optimize processes, and deliver the best solutions for your needs.

FARO Laser Trackers demand trust. Customers from around the world solve measurement problems easier than ever. Let us save you money by completing jobs faster, eliminate company downtime, and get accurate reportable measurement data.

Portable vs. fixed coordinate measuring machines (CMMs)
When is it better to use a portable coordinate measuring machine (CMM) over a fixed CMM, and vice versa? Is one solution better than the other?

Your decision on whether to invest in a fixed versus portable CMM will be based on a composite of answers to questions such as:

  • Size of parts to be measured
  • The actual level of accuracy required
  • Throughput requirements

It’s not likely that anyone aspect will provide a make-or-break answer, but this whitepaper will help you examine the differences and help your team determine which solution is better in addressing your unique inspection needs.

CROSS-SECTION ANALYSIS

A new analysis command has been added to streamline analyses of surface deviations along specific cross-sections of the CAD model. The command computes the corrected deviations along with a scanned slice of the model, generating dedicated views for reporting and a clear graphical representation of the deviations between the measurements and CAD.

WE CREATE UNIQUE VALUE AND SUPPORT OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE FOR OUR CUSTOMERS BY:

• Enabling faster, more accurate, compelling and useable 3D documentation
• Accelerating execution timelines • Minimizing in field 3D documentation and measurement times
• Shrinking margin impacting scrap and rework costs • Reducing development risk

We are proud to introduce FARO® BuildIT Metrology 2019.5, the latest update to BuildIT’s flagship software – elevating the standard for workflow optimization and productivity for alignment, inspection and build applications.
